What Is a Hammam? Why Do Miami Locals Gatekeep this Hammam?

We Spent the Day at Miami's Best Kept Secret Spa: The Hürrem Hammam

There are the Miami spas you hear about everywhere; Faena, The Standard, Four Seasons, etc. Then, there are spas you only find out about because someone who really knows Miami quietly tells you. Hürrem Hammam in North Miami is the latter. No lines, no crowds, no big flashy scene, just a genuinely old money, if you know, you know kind of place. My sister and I had a sisters Hammam day, and it blew both of us away. Here's the full breakdown, in case you're on the fence about booking.

Which Service?

We did the Hammam Wellness & Spa Signature Package, a four hour, couple's experience that includes a personalized spa consultation, a 30 minute traditional Hammam Ritual Kese, an 80 minute full body massage, a 50 minute custom facial, a 30 minute foot massage, and a Turkish lunch for two at Topkapı Restaurant. It runs $2,000 per couple for the full four hours, gratuity included. Not cheap, but after doing it, we understood exactly where the money goes.

Arrival: Lockers, Robes, and Immediately Feeling Taken Care Of

The second we walked in, we were each assigned our own locker with a robe, slippers, and towel already sized for us. No guessing, no awkward "is this mine?" moment. It set the tone immediately: this is a place that pays attention to detail. From there, everyone changes into swimsuits. It's a mostly coed environment, so heads up if that's not your thing, but it never felt anything less than relaxed and elegant.

The Hammam Ritual: The Best Part, Hands Down

If I had to pick a favorite part of the entire day, it's the hammam itself. You're led into a stunning, all white marble room with heated marble slabs and soft light, and the whole thing feels like something out of Istanbul rather than North Miami. Our service providers exfoliated our skin with traditional kese mitts, and I'm not exaggerating when I say I could actually see the dead skin coming off. My skin felt brand new afterward, like a baby’s bottom. Then came the part that made us both start laughing out of sheer surprise: they cover you in what looks like a giant bubble "blanket," this mountain of soft foam, and wash you down while you're basically floating in suds on the marble table. It's completely unlike anything either of us had experienced at a spa before.

Massage, Foot Massage, and the Facial

After the hammam, we moved into an 80 minute full body massage that we each customized. My sister leaned into deep tissue, and I went the aromatherapy route. Right after we jumped into a 30 minute foot massage that honestly put us in such a zen state that we almost dozed off. Then a 50 minute custom facial tailored to our individual skin. By the end of the day our skin was glowing in a way that no amount of Korean skincare has ever pulled off.

Lunch at Topkapı: Do Not Skip the Baklava

Midway through, we broke for lunch at Topkapı Restaurant, and it might be my favorite spa meal I've ever had. We started with a trio mezze appetizer, and the hummus alone was worth it, then each got a salad. I got the beet salad, and it was so fresh: beets, cucumber, arugula, and caramelized hazelnuts. For entrées, I had the branzino with grilled vegetables, and my sister had the lamb with mashed potatoes, both perfectly cooked and nothing heavy or greasy. We ended up sharing a baklava for dessert that was genuinely exquisite, crisp and not overly sweet. There's also a daily flavored water and a fresh beet juice available, which felt like a nice nod to the wellness theme of the whole visit.

The Amenities Are a Whole Experience on Their Own

What surprised us most is that the treatments are really just one part of the day, and you're encouraged to explore the full amenities before and after. We spent time in the Himalayan salt room, moved between the two saunas (one more herbal, one more rustic in style), sat in the steam room, and worked up the courage for the cold bucket showers and the arctic ice room, which is no joke. There's also a relaxation room that ended up being my personal favorite corner of the whole place: quiet, comfortable loungers, and I actually got to sit and read a few chapters of The Count of Monte Cristo, my favorite book, while my sister dozed off next to me. It's rare to find a spa day that actually gives you unstructured time like that.

The Vibe: Old Money, Very "If You Know, You Know"

There's no big flashy signage, no lines, no crowds, just valet parking (it's the only parking option) and a very intentional, unhurried atmosphere. Nobody is performing for a camera here. It genuinely feels like a place that has stayed under the radar on purpose, which only makes it feel more special, even though it's objectively one of the most photogenic spas in Miami.

Final Thoughts

If you're looking for a proper sisters' day, a milestone celebration, or just an excuse to disconnect for four hours, Hürrem Hammam in North Miami delivers something genuinely different from a typical spa day. It's a full sensory experience, from the marble bath ritual to the Turkish lunch to the ice room dare at the end. We're already planning our next visit.
